Season outlook

The 2022–23 season started off on a high note with wins against ranked Gonzaga and Creighton. On December 12, 2022, Head Coach Chris Beard was indefinitely suspended and later fired for a felony domestic abuse charge.[1] These charges were later dropped.[2] Associate head coach Rodney Terry served as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.[3] The Longhorns finished the regular season 23–8, 12–6 in conference play. Texas won their first conference tournament championship since the 2021 season, second all-time, earning the conference's automatic bid. Ultimately, they made it all the way to the Elite Eight but lost to Miami (FL).
