Bacillus gibsonii is a facultative anaerobe bacterium.[1] It is a gram positive, alkaliphilic and alkalitolerant, aerobic endospore-forming bacteria.

This species has been recently transferred into the genus Alkalihalobacillus.[2] The correct nomenclature is Alkalihalobacillus gibsonii.
