'Brewn is a dynamic Australian band delivering their own brand of Country Rock, whose sound is a lively fusion of Australian Rock and Country. Australian Country rock act – Brewn - has been creating quite a stir over the last few years thanks to their unique sound and authentic approach to their music and performances.

A down to earth bunch of good blokes - Brewn sing about real life tales - that deeply resonate on a profound level with real people.

Brewn’s music unites people from all walks of life – and display immense pride and passion in their roots.

The band went through multiple members before settling on their current line up in 2023. The current lineup includes original founding members Michael Bond, Anthony Barbara, John Barbara and new additions James Cox and Bill Gordon.

History

Bear Country Road & Rusted On

Their debut EP, Bear Country Road, was launched in June 2010 and featured five original songs, including their debut single "Lazy".

Brewn's debut album Rusted On was launched at the 2011 Tamworth Country Music Festival. The debut single off the album, "Heaven", was also launched with a 3D video clip at the Tamworth cinema.[1][2] The clip was shot and produced entirely in Tamworth.[3]

My Town

"My Town", the title track and first single released from their second album was recorded and produced by Robert Mackay at Pacific International Music Australia in Hervey Bay and mixed and mastered by Jason Millhouse. The video clip was directed by Duncan Toombs (Filmery).

Collaboration with James Blundell

In 2018, Brewn was invited to support longtime friend and musical collaborator James Blundell during the production of his 30th anniversary album James Blundell 30 Years of Pride . The album consisted of well known Australian Country Music artists recording their versions of Blundell's songs. Artists included Tania Kernaghan , Adam Brand and Cameron Daddo. Brewn provided the backing instrumentals for all tracks, and contributed their version of Down on the Farm.

Paper Aeroplanes

2021 Brewn release their brand new single, “Paper Aeroplanes”, on Friday 19th November. The band’s first single release in three years and is lifted from their forthcoming third album due 2023. “Paper Aeroplanes” is a song that reflects on times of hardship, when people around you cast doubt on your abilities and even more so, you cast doubt on yourself. It’s about lifting up and being the best ‘you’ you can be. Wrap it all up, cast it out into the world and let ting it free!

Brewn has been quietly writing and recording the new album under the guidance of two of Australia’s most respected and knowledgeable in the industry, Duncan Toombs and Paul Kelly’s sound man, Gordon Wood.

Hard To Breathe

2022 Brewn release their new single, "Hard to Breathe" Following on from the hit,“Paper Aeroplanes”, “Hard to Breathe”, explores a softer, yet more universal theme - true love. “I wrote the lyrics late one afternoon while reflecting on how lucky and in love I am to have found my soul mate, and to have built an amazing family and life that we can share and grow old with”, says lead singer, Michael Bond. “It’s a song straight from the heart and dedicated to my best friend, my wife, Lynaire”.

After the lull of Covid lockdowns, Brewn returned with the poignant single, Paper Aeroplanes. The track herald a new direction from the band following a lineup change and again leaning on the recording team of Duncan Toombs and Paul Kelly’s sound man, Gordon Wood.
