Kane is a Dutch rock band formed in 1998 in the Hague. As of 2023, it consists of Dinand Woesthoff (lead vocals) and Dennis van Leeuwen (guitar). Throughout their career, Kane have released seven studio albums, five live albums, and one compilation. The group split up in 2014. In 2023, they announced a reunion for the following year.

History

Kane got its start in the Hague in 1998, when Dinand Woesthoff and Dennis van Leeuwen met at a cafe, where they were working at the time. Both had a passion for music, and they formed a band and began putting on performances for small audiences.

Their breakthrough came in 1999, with the song "Where Do I Go Now".[1] Their debut album, As Long as You Want This, was released a year later and eventually certified 2x Platinum.[1][2] It was followed by So Glad You Made It in 2001 and What If in 2003.

In 2004, Woesthoff's wife, Guusje Nederhorst, died of breast cancer at the age of 34. He devoted the song "Dreamer" to her, and it became the best-selling Dutch single that year.[3]

Kane went on to release the albums Fearless (2005), Everything You Want (2008), No Surrender (2009), and Come Together (2012), before dispanding in December 2014.[3]

In September 2023, it was announced that the band has plans to reform the following year.[4]
