Fenerbahçe is the name of a neighbourhood in Kadıköy district, Istanbul, Turkey, located on the Asian side at the shore of the Sea of Marmara. The name means "lighthouse garden" in Turkish (from fener, meaning "lighthouse", and bahçe, meaning "garden"), deriving from an ancient lighthouse located at Fenerbahçe Cape (40°58′08″N 29°01′59″E / 40.968801°N 29.032936°E / 40.968801; 29.032936 (Fenerbahçe cape and lighthouse)).
