GoTo Ltd (formerly "Car2go")[1] is an Israeli company founded in 2008 that for the first time allowed short-term car rental. As of June 2022, the company is publicly traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.[2][3]

GoTo Group is considered one of the pioneering companies in the world in the field of car and electric motorcycle sharing.[4][5]

History

GoTo Global Mobility Ltd. was founded in 2008 by Jonathan Gadish, Noam Margalit, and Ben (Benjamin) Niniyo and operated under the Car2go brand for short-term car rental.[6][7] In April 2022, an agreement was signed to merge the company with the Nerhatik Media Ltd.,[8] which was founded in November 2020 and is traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The implementation of the agreement was completed in June 2022. Subsequently, the company changed its name to the current name, "GoTo Ltd."[9][10]

Types of Service

The group operates various services in the field of shared transportation:

Round-Trip Car Sharing Service [RT]

subscribers can rent a car for several hours, taking it from one parking lot and returning it to the same parking lot from which it was taken (A). For this, the company operates a fleet of over 300 vehicles in about 14 major cities in Israel, including Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem,.[11]

The fleet includes mini cars and vans for transportation.[12]

GoTo has a franchise for placing vehicles at all train stations in the country and currently operates car sharing at Tel Aviv and Herzliya stations.[12]

In the "Round-Trip" service, the price is based on rental hours and distance travelled.[11]

Outside Israel, the company operates this model mainly in Madrid, Spain.[13]

One-Way Car Sharing Service [OW]

In this model, company subscribers can rent a car on a minute basis, taking the car from point A, driving to their desired destination, and leaving it there, at point B. These short trips, from one dedicated parking lot to another, are generally intended for short city trips and are a complementary product to the public transportation operating in the city. Since 2017, the company has been operating in this service in Israel the flagship project of the Tel Aviv Municipality in the field of shared transportation "AutoTel," which includes 360 vehicles and about 600 parking spaces for service subscribers.[14] This model, too, operates in Madrid.
