Radix luteola is a species of freshwater snail, an aquatic gastropod mollusc in the family Lymnaeidae.
Placement of this species within the genus Radix was confirmed by Correa et al. (2010).[2]
There exist two forms of this species:[1]
- Radix luteola f. australis
- Radix luteola f. ovalis
Distribution
Radix luteola is a widespread species in south Asia and southeast Asia.[1]
Parasites
Radix luteola is the first intermediate host for the trematodes:
- Schistosoma nasale[3][1]
- Schistosoma indicum[3][1]
- Schistosoma spindale[1]
- Schistosoma suis[1]
- Schistosoma incognitum[1]
- Fasciola gigantica[1]
- Fasciola hepatica[1]
- Clinostomum giganticum[1]
- Echinostoma revolutum[1]
- Orientobilharzia dattae[1]
- Echinoparyphium bugulai[1]
