Mamula (also known as Nymph, Killer Mermaid, Killer Mermaids, and Dark Sea) is a Serbian-American fantasy drama-thriller film.

Summary

Two young American women go on a Mediterranean vacation and uncover the watery lair of a siren hidden beneath an abandoned military fortress. What was once a carefree adventure becomes a deadly fight for survival.

Plot

The story begins with Ana and Sergej are having vacation in Montenegro. That night as Ana begins to have sex with Sergej after she takes off her shirt to the point where she is topless, Sergei is later charmed after hearing the mermaid's siren song which he was quickly fall into the water where he was drowned to death. Ana is afraid to see this and she needs someone's help only to be killed by an unknown assailant who wields an anchor as it means to kill the victim and her corpse is last seen being dragged away by the unknown assailant.

The next day, two female Americans, Lucy and Kelly are visiting their friend as they take vacation on Montenegro and they meet Alex and Yasmin on their way as Kelly sees the fisherman on the boat. When they take an island hopping and swimming on the sea waters they meet Boban who also swimming in the sea waters as well. When they are drinking after they were talking about trying to explore the island Mamula, an ex-German soldier named Niko who warns them not to go to that island which is dangerous to tourist but they never listen to his warnings.The next day, they went to Mamula island where they explore the prison fortress. However, they saw the fisherman that Kelly saw was a guardian on this island and they saw him putting a bucket full of dead hands on the well as he leaves. Kelly and Alex discover inside the well was a girl beneath it as the guardian attempts to kill them with a shotgun. Although, the guardian of the prison fortress attempts to kill everyone inside and he manages to injure Boban from his leg that hinders his mobility.

Both Kelly and Alex tries to find out about the girl beneath the well. However, Alex was charmed by the mermaid's siren song which he attempts to open it. However, he and Kelly are separated as the latter opens the door and to find the girl from the well and he falls beneath the water seemingly killed in the process. Later, Yasmin, Lucy and Boban are trying to find the way out of the prison fortress and they discovered the guardian was none other than the other ex-German soldier which is the former comrade of Niko who fights off against the mermaid and has a list of victims was stick on his room and the place where he sharpens his anchor as well as to butcher the victims that he killed. As the trio find Kelly, Yasmin has later been hit by the guardian's anchor and she is killed. She is later beheaded by him on his butchered room as Boban and Lucy reunite with Kelly and they see the guardian was handling Yasmin's severed head, causing them to realize he will kill them next.

When they find Alex, they see corpses are in this room and they saw the girl from the well which it charms Boban from her siren song and Kelly snaps him out by slapping him in the face and they discovered that girl from the well is a mermaid and the guardian hits Boban to his shoulder as they fight each other with weapons. However, both girls saw Alex's corpse was floated in the sea waters. Lucy is later killed by the mermaid who shapeshifts into a horrible creature and drags her in the water and is stabbed from her tail, leaving Kelly helpless and Boban manages to kill the guardian who is severely injured. He and Kelly leave as the mermaid comes to her lover's corpse which she screams in anguish as she is able to resurrect his life. By the time Kelly and Boban tries to get out of the prison fortess as they found the map to escape. The resurrected guardian pursues both and they were later saved by Niko who warns them earlier about the island. Niko finally explains to them that Mamula island is one of the cursed islands where the mermaids made their sanctuary in that island and the girl from the well that they saw earlier is named Scylla, a mermaid who resides underneath the prison fortress and the one responsible who killed Lucy earlier during a deadly fight. However, one of his men was in love with Scylla who is thought to be dead and realized that he was alive and Scylla keeps him alive due to her affection to him. He tries to kill people in Montenegro to feed their corpses to Scylla. Niko sensed that Scylla is gone after them and she attacks their boat in her horrible creature form.

Scylla manages to kill Boban due to her siren's song which she drags him beneath the sea waters to death. Kelly and Niko are the remaining survivors to fight her which Scylla attempts to drag Niko to the waters and Kelly manages to stab her with a spear. Therefore, Scylla later attacks Kelly who is rendered injured as Niko manage to caught her with a net. Scylla is forced to revert back to her mermaid form where she sings her siren song towards Niko who is charmed by her song and Kelly manages to snap him out by slapping to his face several times and Niko snaps out from her song and he manages to stab Scylla with a spear, killing her. The guardian of the Mamula island arrives and is shocked to see his lover is finally dead as he grieves over her loss which Niko tells him for what he had done after he kills several victims just for Scylla. Therefore, he senses that several mermaids are coming to get them in Montenegro knowing that they are here to take revenge against them who kills their own kind as the movie ends where Niko kills the guardian with his own anchor after he had killed several innocent people in Montenegro and his love with the mermaid Scylla.
