The Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar) is an Indian political faction under the leadership of Ajit Pawar, splintered from the main Nationalist Congress Party under Sharad Pawar.[3] The faction has currently 41 MLAs from Maharashtra, 7 MLAs from Nagaland, and 2 MPs in Indian Parliament. The faction is currently unrecognised by Election Commission of India.[4]
History
In July 2023, a majority of the elected representatives of the party led by Ajit Pawar joined the National Democratic Alliance government. This caused a direct split between Ajit Pawar and the founder-president of the party Sharad Pawar.[5]
