Officials outside the car where the Armistice was signed

Military leaders gathered in the forest of Compiègne, France, on November 11, 1918, after reaching an agreement for the armistice that ended World War I. This passenger car was given to Ferdinand Foch (second from right) for military use by the manufacturer, Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits.
