Purandar taluka is a taluka of Pune district of state of Maharashtra in India.[1] There are 108 villages and 3 towns in Purandhar Taluka.
Demographics
As per the 2011 Census of India, Purandhar Taluka has a population of 235,659. The sex-ratio of Purandhar Taluka is around 965 compared to 929 which is the state average of Maharashtra.[2] The literacy rate of Purandhar Taluka is 73.78% out of which 79.51% males are literate and 67.83% females are literate.[3] The total area of Purandhar is 1101.65 sq.km with population density of 214 per sq.km.[3]
Languages
The most spoken language is Marathi, which is also the sole official language of the region.
At the time of the 2011 Census of India, 95.64% of the population of Purandhar Taluka spoke Marathi, 2.72% Hindi, and 0.60% spoke Telugu as their first language.[4]
Religion
At the time of the 2011 Census of India, 95.65% of the population of Purandhar Taluka followed Hinduism, 2.60% Islam, 1.11% Buddhism, and the remaining 0.64% of the population followed other religions or stated no religion.[2]
