This article lists the results for the Scotland national football team between 1940 and 1959. Scotland did not play any official matches between 1940 and 1945 because competitive football was suspended for the duration of the Second World War. Several unofficial internationals, some known as Victory Internationals, were played during this time.

- 1 2 3 The 1950 British Home Championship also served as a 1950 FIFA World Cup qualification group. Scotland finished second in Group 1 and qualified for the 1950 FIFA World Cup. The Scottish Football Association (SFA) had declared, however, that it would only send the team to the World Cup if they had won the British Championship. Despite protests from some players that Scotland should participate in the World Cup, the SFA adhered to its position and withdrew the team from the tournament.
- 1 2 3 The 1954 British Home Championship also served as a 1954 FIFA World Cup qualification group. Scotland finished second in UEFA Group 3 and qualified for the 1954 FIFA World Cup.
