Shiekh Ja'afar Mahmud Adampronunciation (February 12, 1960 – April 13, 2007) was a Nigerian Salafist Islamic scholar and member of Nigeria's Jama’at Izalat al Bid’a Wa Iqamat as Sunna, a religio-political organisation with headquarters in Abuja. He lived primarily in Kano while he went to Maiduguri for his Annual Ramadan Tafsir.[1][2]

Teaching

Adam preached in Maiduguri's Indimi Mosque, which was attended by the Deputy Governor of Borno.Although sheikh Ja'afar is dead, his tafsir, lectures and other teachings that include kitab-attauhid, Siffat As salat An-nabi, Umdatul ahkam, Riyaddus-Saliheen, Usul As-Salasa and other books that are widely dispersed everywhere in the Hausaland. Sheikh ja'afar's tafsir is arguably the most listened tafsir in Hausaland. [3]

Death

Sheikh Ja'afar was assassinated in his mosque during Subh prayer in the northern city of Kano in April 2007.[4][5] Opinions were split at that time Regarding the perpetrators of the crime . While some claim that Boko Haram, an extremist organisation, executed the sheikh. Many others suggested that Mr. Shekarau, the governor of Kano at the time, may have been responsible because the cleric was one of his major critics.[6]
