"Unavailable" is a song by Nigerian singer Davido featuring South African producer Musa Keys. The song was released on the 31st of March 2023 with the former's album Timeless, along with an acapella and instrumental version.[2][3][4] "Unavailable" peaked at number 1 on the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart for five weeks and reached number 3 on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.[5][6] The song is nominated at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance.[7]

Background

The song features complementary vocals by South African singer Musa Keys and was produced by Ragee and co-produced by Magicsticks.[8] On the day the album was released, Davido launched a dance challenge on TikTok, which has received over 600,000 posts.[9][10] The official music video for "Unavailable" was directed by Dammy Twitch and was shot in South Africa. On 11 August 2023, Davido released an official remix to Unavailable featuring Major Lazer.[11] On 18 August 2023, Davido released a second official remix featuring American rapper Latto.[12]

Composition

Afrocritik defined "Unavailable" as "a tightly-controlled, message-filled, highly danceable club tune".[13]

Commercial performance

The song debuted at number eight on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, and number 13 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales. The song also made it to Spotify's 2023 Songs of Summer predictions.[14]
