生平
1961年，坎宁安出生于爱尔兰都柏林，他有3个姐姐和一个哥哥，全家人都信奉罗马天主教。[1][2] 坎宁安早年没读完高中就辍学了，那时候他只有15岁，他做了一名电工，1980年代，他搬迁到津巴布韦共和国。[1] 坎宁安回到爱尔兰之后，对电工这份工作不满意，转行当了一个演员。[1] 坎宁安在爱尔兰的剧院学习戏剧表演，随着日益磨砺，慢慢地有了名声。[1]
