坎農級護航驅逐艦

坎農級護航驅逐艦(Cannon class destroyer escort)是美國二次世界大戰期間建造的一個護航驅逐艦艦級,專門用於船團護航以及反制敵軍潛艇用。相較之前的巴克利級(Buckley-class),此級艦進行了局部的設計變更,改使用柴電引擎作為動力來源,具有6,000馬力,和艾瓦茲級(Evarts class)相同,但艦身較長因此航速略高。本級船艦因為搭載的柴電動力系統採縱向配置,而又被稱呼為DET型驅逐艦(DET Type,其中DET是「縱置柴電」Diesel Electric Tandem的縮寫)[1]

本級艦因就役時已接近二戰尾聲,因此在二戰期間完全沒有遭擊沈的紀錄,多艘同級艦在戰後轉交給美國的盟邦海軍使用。除了在二戰期間就已使用了此級船艦的自由法國海軍巴西海軍外,在戰後陸續接收到此級船艦的國家還包括烏拉圭希臘義大利日本荷蘭秘魯菲律賓韓國中華民國泰國等。

在進入21世紀後同級艦因船齡老舊陸續除役解體,其中美國唯一保有的同級艦史萊特號(USS Slater DE-766)被安置在紐約州奧巴尼(Albany, NY)的哈德遜河上作為水上博物館使用。至於同級艦中服役記錄最久的,則是菲律賓海軍所操作的胡瑪邦酋長號巡防艦(BRP Rajah Humabon PF-11),該艦原為美國海軍阿瑟頓號(USS Atherton DE-169),1955年至1975年間曾以初日號(,JDS Hatsuhi DE-263)之名在日本海上自衛隊服役,是該單位成立初期最早使用的幾艘船艦之一。1976年時美國將日本所歸還的該艦售予菲律賓,並在韓國經過大幅度的整修後加入菲律賓海軍。直到2018年該艦退役,主要作為海面巡邏用途。
