從1983年至1986年間總計95集的兩部迷你系列、兩季的電視動畫集合而成。

動畫作畫為外包製作，其動畫作畫製作主要由日本的東映動畫完成，東映動畫外包參與了所有95集以及電影的作畫製作。

台灣版本從1986年（民國75年）至1991年（民國80年）由中視首播；香港版本由亞洲電視黃金台（本港台前身）播出。

概要

「G.I. Joe」原為美國玩具廠商「孩之寶」於1964年所生產的12英吋軍事可動人偶；而後1982年推出了以3.75英吋的新尺寸『大英雄（A Real American Hero）』系列，潤飾成為正反兩派團體相互交戰的男童取向科幻戰爭童玩。並在 1984年至1993年間由驚奇漫畫出版社編繪成共有155集的漫畫，進而成為本版本動畫的故事設定基礎。

故事

恐怖組織「眼鏡蛇（Cobra）」企圖要征服世界，美國政府為了保衛社稷的樂利安康而組成了「除暴突擊隊」（G.I. Joe），不惜赴湯蹈火、除暴安良來伸張正義與其對抗。

電影
  • 《戰鷹特攻隊》（G.I.Joe: The Movie）
本片原先預定將於戲院上映，卻因先前《變形金剛（Transformers）》與《小白馬（My Little Pony）》兩片的電影銷售票房不佳，而改以直接發行錄影帶的方式於1987年4月20日發售。台灣於90年代間曾在東森電視上連同電影一併重播Sunbow Productions版TV系列。
原定公爵在電影中被眼鏡蛇大帝刺死，可是上述變形金剛大電影的「柯柏文之死」引來觀衆强烈的負面反彈，於是戲本改成公爵在重創昏迷後於結尾成功救活。
