寬紋黑脈綃蝶是蛱蝶科的一种，属于斑蝶亚科、绡蝶族和鮫綃蝶亞族。它因其透明的翅膀而被称为玻璃翼蝴蝶，这使得它可以在没有大量色彩的情况下进行伪装。在西班牙语地区，它也可能被称为espejitos，意思是"小镜子"，因为它的翅膀是透明的。这种蝴蝶主要分布在南美洲的中部和北部地区，最北到德克萨斯州，最南到智利都有发现。虽然它的翅膀看起来很精致，但这种蝴蝶能够承载其自身重量的40倍。[1]除了其翅膀的生理特性外，这种蝴蝶还以长期迁徙和捕食等行为著称。[2]
