新興傳染病
新興傳染病（英語：，縮寫：EID）又称新发传染病，一般定義是近二十年以來，新出現在人類身上的傳染病，而該疾病的發生率除了有快速增加的趨勢，且在地理分布上有擴張的情況，甚至發展出新的抗藥性機制等[2] ，都可以算是新興傳染病。
當安東尼·福奇（Anthony Fauci）擔任美國國家過敏和傳染病研究所（NIAID）主任時，他繪製了一張世界地圖，以在國會聽證會上介紹，該聽證會顯示出一個明顯的新興傳染病威脅：艾滋病毒。 從那時起，他不斷更新地圖，現在顯示出許多傳染病威脅的出現，以說明他就職期間的經驗，並重點介紹在HIV之前出現的某些感染[1]。
新興傳染病佔了所有人類病原體的百分之十二[3]。新興傳染病可能是由新發現的微生物引起的，包括新的病毒品種或病毒毒株[4]（例如新型冠狀病毒，埃博拉病毒，HIV）。 一些新興傳染病是從已知的病原體演變而來，就像新的流感病毒株一樣。 新興傳染病也可能是由於將現有疾病傳播到不同地理區域的新人群而引起的，就像西尼羅河熱爆發那樣。
