生平
1906年，阿斯特出生在美国伊利诺伊州亚当斯县。父亲奥托·路德维希·朗哈克，母亲海伦·玛丽·华思康赛罗斯，两人都是教师。
1891年，她的父亲从德意志帝国柏林移民到美国。她的母亲是美国伊利诺伊州居民，拥有葡萄牙和爱尔兰血统。[1]1904年8月3日，两人在堪萨斯州结婚。她的父亲在学校教德语，她的母亲在学校教戏剧和教育。
家庭
阿斯特一生结婚4次。第一任丈夫是肯尼斯·霍克斯，第二任丈夫是富兰克林·索普，两人有孩子梅林·霍莉·索普，第三人丈夫是曼缪尔·德尔·卡普，两人也有一个孩子安东尼·德尔·卡普，第四任丈夫是托马斯·戈登·惠洛克。
