马克·惠托

马克·惠托（英语：Mark Whittow，1957年8月24日[1]—2017年12月23日），英国史学家、考古学家，专门研究拜占庭帝国。他是牛津大学的讲师、牛津大学基督圣体学院的拜占庭学研究员[2][3][4]。

生平

惠托出生于剑桥[5]。先是在牛津大学三一学院学习现代史，后获得拜占庭史与考古学博士学位[2]。

惠托曾在牛津大学奥里尔学院任研究员、讲师，在雷丁大学、伦敦国王学院任过教职，1998年回到牛津，在圣彼得学院任历史研究员、讲师，2009年又转任基督圣体学院研究员、拜占庭学讲师[2][6]。2017年11月，他当选下一任牛津大学奥里尔学院教务长，预计于2018年9月上任[7][8]。

2017年12月23日深夜，他在牛津郡驾车遭遇交通事故而丧生[6]。
