鷸虻

鷸虻科是中等或大型的雙翅目，有幼長的身體及像高蹺的節肢。牠們的口器可以刺穿皮膚，很多種鷸虻都是血食性的，其他的則會掠食其他昆蟲。牠們一般都是褐色及黃色的，沒有剛毛。幼蟲亦是掠食性的，很多是居住在陸地上的，一些則是生活在水中的。[1]

Rhagio mystaceus

鷸虻科是分類在短角亞目下的虻下目中。Atherix及Vermileo已從鷸虻科中抽出，並分類在流虻科及穴虻科。

• 腎角鷸虻屬（Symphoromyia）

另外，Arthroceras及金鷸虻屬亦有在日本出現。[4]
