源自上古馬拉地語 (ārisā) ← 馬哈拉施特拉普拉克里特語 (ādarisa) ←  (*ādariśa) ← 梵語 (ādarśa, “鏡子”)。與古吉拉特語 (arīso), 孔卡尼語 (ārsô)同源。
