    (12345) 1993 FT8 is an asteroid of the main belt of asteroids of 3.012 km diameter discovered in 1993.

    Description

    (12345) 1993 FT8 was discovered on March 17, 1993 at the La Silla Observatory, in Chile, by the program Uppsala-ESO Survey of Asteroids and Comets (UESAC).

    Orbital characteristics

    The orbit of this asteroid is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.45 AU, a perihelion of 2.05 AU, an eccentricity of 0.16 and an inclination of 3.35° with respect to the ecliptic.[1] Due to these characteristics, namely a semi-major axis between 2 and 3.2 AU and a perihelion greater than 1,666 AU, it is classified, according to the JPL Small-Body Database, as an object of the main belt of asteroids.[1]

    Physical characteristics

    The asteroid has an absolute magnitude (H) of 14.4 and an albedo estimated at 0.407, which allows us to calculate a diameter of 3.012 km. These results were obtained thanks to observations from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE), a space telescope American put into orbit in 2009 and observing the entire sky in the infrared, and published in 2011 in an article presenting the first results concerning the asteroids of the main belt.[3]
