Alan Richard Watson (9 July 1929 – 15 February 2007) was a British rower. He competed in the men's eight event at the 1956 Summer Olympics.[1]
He also represented England and won a silver medal in the eights at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver, Canada.[2][3] He was a member of the Thames Rowing Club.[4]
As Chief Coach of University of London Boat Club, he was one of Britain's most successful coaches. ULBC crews won numerous Henley medals, notably the Grand in 1963 and 1968. The 1968 crew was selected to represent Great Britain at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico.
