Alexandre Escobar Ferreira (born 2 January 1972 – 18 July 1992), simply known as Alexandre, was a football player, who played as a goalkeeper for São Paulo FC.[1][2]
Career
Alexandre played only 8 matches for São Paulo, being the most memorable against Nacional, in 1992 Copa Libertadores. He was considered the new great goalkeeper of the club.
Death
Around 6:30 am on July 18, 1992, at km 13.5 on the Castelo Branco Highway, Alexandre lost control of his car and crashed into a protective wall. He was taken to the University of São Paulo Hospital, but did not resist. The player's body was veiled in the CT da Barra Funda.[3]
