Alliance (Dutch: Alliantie, pronounced [ˌɑ.liˈɑn.tsi]) is a political party in the Netherlands. It participated in the 2023 provincial elections in the provinces of Overijssel, North Brabant and Drenthe, but was unable to win a seat, receiving 0.15% of the votes.[1]
The party announced not to participate during the 2023 House of Representative elections because "other parties have also emerged that have a major overlap with [the party's] positions."[2] This is mainly due to the rise of the New Social Contract party led and founded by Pieter Omtzigt, which shares much of the Alliance's core values and principles.[3]
Ideology
The party describes itself as "the alternative from the bourgeois and democratic centre... fit[ting] a robust middle position within the political landscape. This middle position is the result of... positioning on the two (separate) socio-economic and socio-cultural axes. Alliance is socio-economically something left-of-center. Socio-culturally, Alliance is moderately conservative."[4]
