Ana María Bravo (born 3 December 1973) is a Chilean lawyer, politician of the Socialist Party and member of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies elected from District 24 in Los Rios Region since 2022.[1] She is the first elected woman Deputy from Los Rios.[2] She previously served as Regional Ministerial Secretary of Economy, Development and Tourism during the government of Michelle Bachelet.
Education and career
Ana María Bravo was educated at the Santa Maria Cervellon School, Independencia before proceeding to University of Chile where she earned a degree in law in 2000. She holds diploma in oral, criminal, family and labour litigation, Diploma in Cooperatives and a post graduate diploma in law.[3]
After graduation, she worked in various government agencies including Municipality of Independencia, State Defense Council, Housing and Urbanisation Service of Los Rios among others. She is the Regional Electoral Manager of the socialist Party since 2011. From 2014 to 2018, she served as Regional Ministerial Secretary of Economy, Development and Tourism during the administration of president Michelle Bachelet.[4] She was elected to the Chamber of Deputies from District 24 covering Corral, Futrono, La Unión, Lago Ranco, Los Lagos, Máfil, Mariquina, Paillaco, Panguipulli, Río Bueno and Valdivia in the 2021 parliamentary election. She received 1,855 or 1.29 per cent of the valid votes on the New Socialist Pact ticket. She was inaugurated to the Chamber of Deputies on 11 March 2022 and was appointed to the committees on Women and Gender Equality, Consumer protection and Tourism, and Economy, Development; Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.[4]
