Ana María López Colomé is a distinguished Mexican biochemist who won the 2002 L'Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science – Latin America for her studies on the human retina and the prevention of retinitis pigmentosa and several retinopathies.[1]
López Colomé is a former head of the Department of Biochemistry at the Faculty of Medicine and a researcher at the Institute of Cellular Physiology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She holds a bachelor's degree in biology, a master's degree in chemistry and a doctorate degree in biochemistry.[2]
