Bluewater Bay, Florida, is a planned community in Okaloosa County, Florida, United States. The 2,000-acre, 3,500-home residential community was established in 1978, and its first home was sold in the early 1980s.[1]

History

The community was developed by Raimund Herden, who gathered investors, both American and European, to purchase 1,500 acres of land for $5.6 million around 1939 and soon after purchased an additional 500 acres. The land stayed untouched for 39 years before Herden finally decided what he wanted to do with it. In 1978, Herden, along with his business partners Jerome Zivan and Dave Weaver, began residential development of the land.[2]
