Brandtia is a monotypic genus of amphipod in the Acanthogammaridae family, containing the species Brandtia latissima.[1] Like other members of the family, it is endemic to Lake Baikal.[2] This omnivore is found at depths of 1–65 m (3–213 ft) among stones. It is up to 1.9 cm (0.75 in) long.[2]
D. parasitica, which traditionally has been considered a parasite of Lubomirskiid sponges (gut analyses have shown that it is not[2]), was formerly placed in Brandtia, but it has been moved to Dorogostaiskia.[3] Other species formerly placed in Brandtia have been moved to Gmelinoides (G. fasciatus and G. fasciatoides).[1]
