Caarthick Raju is an Indian film director known for his work in Tamil and Telugu-language films.
Career
Caarthick Raju worked as the computer graphics supervisor for more than a hundred films including Jeans (1998), Sivaji: The Boss (2007), the first 40 minutes of Dasavathaaram (2008) and Enthiran (2010).[1][2]
He debuted as a director with Thirudan Police (2014) starring Dinesh, which according to him "encompasses elements of comedy, action, sentiment and horror".[3] The film was based on short story by his father, and he made the film as a tribute to fathers.[4] Regarding the film, a critic wrote that "Caarthick Raju's real strength is comedy. A Ramarajan-style punch quite early in the film...signals this. The climax sequences confirm it. You're happily willing to suspend all disbelief when the scenes are as funny as they are at the end... As you walk out, you can't but wonder if the director, after noting all the laughter at the end, rues his decision not to have made a full-fledged comedy".[5] He worked on his next film Ulkuthu in 2015 also starring Dinesh,[6] which was based on fisherman.[7]
He worked on the Tamil-language thriller film Kannadi with Sundeep Kishan and Kishan suggested he make it in Telugu also, and the film was titled Ninu Veedani Needanu Nene (2019).[3] He worked on female oriented thriller film titled Soorapanagai in Tamil and Nene Naa in Telugu starring Regina Cassandra in 2020.[8] For both of his bilingual films, the Tamil versions remained unreleased. His upcoming films includes the bilingual thriller film The Chase starring Raiza Wilson, which was completed at the end of 2020.[9]
