María Catalina del Real Mihovilovic (born 7 November 1968) is a Chilean engineer and politician currently serving as Deputy for District 11 of the Metropolitan Region. She previously served as a councilor for Quilicura commune from 2004 to 2008. She was vice president of National Renewal party until 2023 when she resigned from the party due to “irreconcilable differences”.[1][2][3]

Background and career

Catalina del Real was born in a political family. Her father Juan Eugenio del Real Armas is the owner of the Notary of Real based in Santiago and Carmen Mihovilovic Ruiz. Her sisters Maximiliano and Rodolfo del Real Mihovilovic are politicians and serve as councilors for Vitacura and La Reina communes. del Real had her secondary school education at Santiago College and earned a bachelor's degree in commercial engineering from University of Chile. After her graduation she worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). In 2014, she served as administration and finance manager at the Notaría del Real.[4]

From 2004 to 2008, she served as a councilor for Quilicura commune on the ticket of National Renewal Party. During her councillorship, she also served as chief of staff to mayor Gustavo Hasbún Selume, in the Estación Central municipality. from 2008 to 2012, she was councilor for Vitacura commune. While still serving as a counselor, she was appointed regional administrator for the Metropolitan Regional Government (GORE) and served from 2010 to 2014. She contested for the mayor of La Reina commune in the 2012 municipal election but was defeated. In 2013, del Real ran for the District 24 Chamber of Deputy  seat but was not elected.[3] In 2017, she ran again for the Chamber of Deputies, but this time for the District 11 covering Las Condes, Vitacura, Lo Barnechea, La Reina and Peñalolén. del Real was elected with 43,499 or 11.55 per cent of the votes on the ticket of National Renewal Party with the support of the coalition of Chile Vamos.[5][6] She was reelected for a second term in 2021. Concha is a member of Foreign Relations, Social Development and Interparliamentary Affairs and Latin American Integration committee in the Chamber of Deputies.[7]
