Columbia is an unincorporated community located in the town of Hewett, Clark County, Wisconsin, United States.[1][2]

History

A post office called Columbia was established in 1894, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1920.[3] The community was named after the song "Hail, Columbia."[4]

In 1918 the History of Clark County described: "Columbia is a station on the Omaha line between Neillsville and Merrillan. It has a good looking school building, and several nice homes. Several years ago Columbia was boomed by a land company, but the exploitation was overdone and that part of the county until recently has suffered from the after effects of too much publicity. Columbia now has a store, a warehouse, a cheese factory, a hall and a church.[5]
