Gaynor Lord was a British woman who disappeared in Norwich, United Kingdom, on 8 December 2023 and was found dead there a week later.

Gaynor Lord

Gaynor Lord (born 1967 or 1968[1]) was a shop assistant at the gin counter, for local sprits distiller Bullards, at Jarrolds department store in Norwich city centre.[2] She was married to Clive[3] and had three children.[4]

Disappearance

On 8 December 2023, Lord was scheduled to finish work at 16:00 GMT but left at approximately 14:45 and did not take her usual route home.[5] She walked around the city, passing the cathedral at 15:22 and Norwich Playhouse theatre approximately 25 minutes later. At 16:01 she was seen on CCTV walking along St Augustine's Street, which leaves the city centre to the north-west.[3]

At around 20:00, a member of the public found some of Lord's belongings in Wensum Park in the north of the city;[2] she was reported missing that evening.[6] Police began searching the park the following day. On 15 December they discovered Lord's body in the River Wensum approximately 400 metres (440 yd) from the park.[7][8] A post mortem determined that she had drowned and that there was no evidence of third-party involvement.[2]

Reactions

Similarities have been drawn between Lord's disappearance and that of Nicola Bulley,[6] and detectives on the Gaynor Lord case consulted Lancashire Constabulary who had undertaken the search for Bulley.[2]
