Emily Austin (born 2001[1]) is an American journalist, social media influencer, model, actress, and independent NBA broadcaster.[2]

Early life

Austin was born in 2001 or 2002 in the United States to Israeli parents,[2] and grew up on Long Island, New York.[3][4] She went to Hofstra University, NY to study journalism.[4][5][6] She has been visiting Israel since her younger years, and follows Jewish traditions such as Kosher and Sabbath.[4][5]

Career

Sports journalism

In 2021, Austin started her Sports journalism career by reaching out to professional athletes to interview them during the COVID-19 pandemic, while she was still a sophomore journalism student at Hofstra University.[4] Austin, a former athlete herself, began interviewing athletes on Instagram for her vlog show, that she called Daily Vibes with Emily Austin.[4][7][8] This led her to working at MTV on Music Lives On. She also worked for Sports Illustrated as a host at NFL and boxing events.[6][7]

In 2023, Austin started an NBA podcast called The Hoop Chat w/ Emily Austin which features NBA players[9][10][7] such as Josh Giddey,[11] Grant Williams,[12] Mitchell Robinson, Immanuel QuickleyJalen Brunson[8] and Chet Holmgren.[5]

Other work

Austin was a judge at the Miss Universe 2022.[5][6] She joined the Israeli mission to the UN where she handles English communications and public relations.[2][13] Austin has written for publications such as Newsweek.[14] She has appeared several times as a panelist on the Fox News program Gutfeld!. [15]

After the October 7th, 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel, Austin has been vocal on the issue of anti-semitism,[16] coming out in support of Israel on social media, and also traveling to Israel in December 2023, to visit the southern border communities, that had faced the destruction by Hamas.[16]
