Eugen Jenica Pentiuc (born on 8 December 1955, Romania) is a Romanian biblical scholar. He serves as Archbishop Demetrios Professor of Biblical Studies and Christian Origins, Professor of Old Testament and Semitic Languages and Director of Th.M. Program at the Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.[1][2]

Life

Education

Pentiuc received a Ph.D. from 1997 in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the Harvard University.[3] In 1998 he obtained a Th.D. in Old Testament in the Orthodox School of Theology at the Bucharest University, Romania.[3] From 2019 he holds a Doctor Honoris Causa in Theology (Doctor Divinitatis) from the Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca (Romania).[3]

  • 1994 Protopresbyteros / Archpriest (ecclesiastic honor), Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in America.
