Ezra is a 2023 American comedy-drama film directed by Tony Goldwyn, written by Tony Spiridakis, and starring Bobby Cannavale and Robert De Niro. It premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2023.
Premise
Max Brandel, a former successful late-night comedy writer-turned-less-than-successful stand-up comic, has moved in with his father Stan after ruining his career and marriage. When Max and his ex-wife Jenna are at odds over how to address the needs of their brilliant, autistic 11-year-old son Ezra, Max decides to kidnap Ezra and take him on a cross-country trip.[2][3]

Production
The film was originally announced in May 2022, under the title Inappropriate Behavior.[2] Principal photography occurred in Westwood, New Jersey and Jersey City in September 2022.[7][8]
Release
Ezra had its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2023.[1][9] In November 2023, Bleecker Street acquired distribution rights to the film.[10]
Reception
The film has a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 11 reviews.[11]
