Free League Publishing (Swedish: Fria Ligan) is a game studio and publisher based in Stockholm, Sweden. The company designs and publishes tabletop role-playing games, board games, and books based on licensed properties and independent works.
History
Founded in 2011, Free League's game portfolio includes:
- ALIEN The Roleplaying Game based on the film series[1] (Gold ENNIE for Best Game 2020[2])
- Blade Runner The Roleplaying Game based on the film series (Gold ENNIE for Best Cartography and Organization & Design 2023[3])
- The One Ring role-playing game second edition[4] (Gold ENNIE for Best Art, Interior 2022) set in JRR Tolkien's Middle Earth by War of the Ring designer Francesco Nepitello and The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying, the game's 5th Edition OGL sister line.[5]
- Twilight: 2000 gritty sandbox post-apocalyptic survival roleplaying game set in the year 2000 in an alternate history where the Soviet Union never collapsed and the cold war between the two superpowers went hot.[6]
- Vaesen, a Nordic horror roleplaying game[7] based on the works by Johan Egerkrans (Gold ENNIE for Best Art, Interior 2021[8] and its supplement Mythic Britain and Ireland Gold ENNIE for Best Art, Interior and Best Setting 2023[9])
- Mörk Borg pitch-black apocalyptic fantasy RPG[10] (Silver ENNIE for Best Game 2020[11])
- Tales from the Loop, alternate '80s role-playing game and alternate '90s RPG Things from the Flood based on the worlds of visual artist Simon Stålenhag
- Forbidden Lands a sandbox fantasy survival role-playing game[12] (winner of four ENNIE Awards 2019[13])
- Mutant: Year Zero a post-apocalyptic role-playing game (Silver ENNIE for Best Rules 2015[14])
- Coriolis – The Third Horizon a space adventure (Judge's Spotlight Award 2017[15])
- Symbaroum, a dark and gritty fantasy tabletop role-playing game.[16][17]
- Drakar och Demoner revised and updated (as Dragonbane in English).
- The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Game, the official tabletop role-playing game based on AMC's The Walking Dead television series.
- Crusader Kings The Board Game based on the Crusader Kings strategy computer game.
Free League has also published the related but separate art books Tales from the Loop, Things from the Flood, and The Electric State also by Simon Stålenhag as well as the illustrated edition of the Lovecraft story The Call of Cthulhu by French artist François Baranger.
