Hannah Pearl Davis,[2] better known online as JustPearlyThings, is an American YouTuber and social media personality who produces anti-feminist content. She first rose to prominence as part of the online manosphere subculture, following the censorship of the community's prominent figure, Andrew Tate.[3] Noted for her profuse ingratiation towards the movement and its ideologies, much of her commentary has been described as "misogynistic" or "anti-feminist".[4]
Early life and education
Davis's parents are software engineers and founders of Davisware. Her mother, Jennifer Davis served on the board of directors for UN Women USA. She is the founder of BExponential, an organization dedicated to supporting ambitious women, and authored the book ‘Living Exponentially: Unlocking the Power of Every Moment in Your Business and Life.’ Hannah Pearl Davis was raised as a Catholic in Huntley, Illinois,[5] and she has nine siblings, three of whom were adopted and one of which was given up for adoption. Her younger sister Gabrielle Ann Davis is a popular TikTok influencer and pilot.
Davis studied at Marian Central Catholic High School and studied economics at Elmhurst University.[6] She played volleyball for the Elmhurst Bluejays during her time at college.[7]
Career
Davis started producing content for social media in 2020, building a following on TikTok with a series named Breakup Quiz, where she helped participants figure out the reasons why their relationships fell apart[8][9] and thus gathering over 900,000 followers, until she was banned in 2022.[10]
By March 2023, Pearl has amassed over 1.36 million subscribers on YouTube. She was known for conducting street interviews and interviewing prominent personalities in the manosphere online space.[11]
Davis hosts "The Pre-Game Show" podcast on YouTube.[12] She is being sued by a former guest for the "exploitation and humiliation of a vulnerable person".[13] Sa Ra Garvey, a former co-host on the podcast, claimed that she underpaid Black creators on her show,[14] and Davis said she is considering suing her for defamation.
Views
Davis holds conservative views; she describes herself as an "anti-feminist".[15] She has credited right-wing political commentators Ben Shapiro and Thomas Sowell as her inspirations for wanting to enter the media, and has been described as the "female Andrew Tate".[15][16]
On June 28, 2023, she stated in a Twitter video that "women should not vote" and that "the courts, the legal system, all of society is basically pandering and simping for women."[8] In an interview with Ethan Klein on the H3 Podcast, she stated that "if feminists want the right to vote, right, then it should come with the draft." In the same interview, she argued that divorce should be illegal.[8]
Davis posted a now-deleted video in July 2023 called "Why Can't We Talk About the Jews?", which was widely criticized for containing anti-Semitic tropes.[17][18] In an interview with Piers Morgan on Piers Morgan Uncensored, she stated that the song was about cancel culture and free speech rather than anti-Semitism.[19] She has also stated that stories about slavery in the United States were embellished.[15]
