Hile (Nepali: हिले) is a hill town located in the Eastern Part of Nepal, 13 km north of the regional center of Dhankuta Bazar. At an elevation of 1948 meters,[1] it is the main route to other hilly districts like Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha.
The shops and restaurants primarily serve the local economy. Hile Bazar is one of the largest in the area, attracting locals from villages in the surrounding hills. The only businesses that target tourists are lodges. Hile Bazar is one of the major religious, cultural, and tourist centers of the Dhankuta district.[2]
Geography
Hile is a small town located in the eastern part of Nepal, in the Dhankuta district of Province No. 1. It is situated on a hill and is surrounded by beautiful hills and forests. The town is located at an altitude of approximately 1,948 meters (6,391 feet) above sea level and covers an area of about 6.73 square kilometers.

Hile has a moderate climate, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C (50°F to 77°F) throughout the year.
Attractions
Hile is known for its scenery and atmosphere. There are several walking trails and viewpoints in and around the town that offer views of the surrounding hills and forests. The town is also home to a number of small businesses, including shops, restaurants, and guesthouses.
One of the attractions in Hile is the Hile View Tower, which is a tall structure built on top of a hill that overlooks the surrounding area. Visitors can climb to the top of the tower to maximise the views of the surrounding hills and forests.
Transportation
Hile is located on the Koshi Highway and is situated 65 km (40 mi) south of Dharan, a major city in Eastern Nepal. The town is easily accessible by public transportation or private vehicles, with public buses being the major mode of transportation available from Dharan to the southern part of Eastern Nepal and serving as the gateway to different districts in the hilly region. Hile can also be reached by road from Kathmandu, which is approximately 500 kilometers away. For those traveling by air, the nearest airport is located in Biratnagar, which is about 65 kilometers away.
Facilities
Hile is well-known for its traditional food and drink, including Tongba and Sukuti, which are popular local specialties. Visitors are greeted by a large statue of Tongba at the town's entrance. The town's bazaar is a bustling hub of activity, with numerous hotels, clinics, shops selling utensils and fancy goods, gas stations, and educational institutions. The local people are known for their warm hospitality and welcome visitors with open arms, making Hile a popular tourist destination.
