On January 7, 2019, it was announced that Richard had signed a two-year contract as an undrafted free agent with the Montreal Alouettes.[2] In the pre-season, he completed three of four pass attempts for 23 yards and one interception.[3] He began the season on the practice roster but was promoted to the active roster and dressed in his first professional game as the third-string quarterback on August 9, 2019, against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
