iCrime with Elizabeth Vargas is an American reality television show hosted by Elizabeth Vargas and is produced by Scott Sternberg Productions that premiered in syndication on September 12, 2022.

Production

In June 2022, Deadline reported that the syndicated true crime show would air in 95% of the country starting in September.[1] Scott Sternberg, an executive producer and co-creator of the show, stated that “The emergent widespread use of smartphones to immediately record everything as it happens gave us the idea to produce iCrime", and Hank Cohan, another executive producer, co-creator and CEO of distributor Trifecta Entertainment & Media added "We’re so gratified that stations have responded to this show in such a big way. This new form of Everyman recordings has become an important new social media tool in helping law enforcement gain truth in crimes committed across the country.[2] And to be producing alongside renowned crime journalist Elizabeth Vargas and veteran crime producer Scott Sternberg just checks all the boxes.”[3]

In mid-2023, the show was renewed for a second season which premiered on September 11, 2023.[4]

Synopsis

The show features video clips of crimes caught on camera or mobile devices by everyday people and the host interviews the victims, eyewitnesses, law-enforcement officials or the filmers themselves; and a group of real crime experts.[5] The show takes a look at the phenomenon of technology intersecting with crime in the world.[6]

Reception

The show received a Nielsen rating on 0.5/4.[7][8]
