The Icaro Mars is an Italian high-wing, single-place, hang glider that was designed and produced by Icaro 2000.[1]
Design and development
The Mars was built in two sizes for differing pilot weight, with the model numbers reflecting the approximate wing area in square feet. Both sizes are DHV certified as Class 1-2 and also SHV certified. The aircraft is made from aluminum tubing, with the single-surface wing covered in Dacron sailcloth.[1]
Variants
- Mars 150
- Small sized model for lighter pilots. Its 8.84 m (29.0 ft) span wing is cable braced from a single kingpost. The nose angle is 120° and the wing area is 14.6 m2 (157 sq ft). Pilot hook-in weight range is 50 to 80 kg (110 to 176 lb).[1]
- Mars 170
- Large sized model for heavier pilots. Its 9.57 m (31.4 ft) span wing is cable braced from a single kingpost. The nose angle is 125° and the wing area is 15.75 m2 (169.5 sq ft). Pilot hook-in weight range is 60 to 110 kg (132 to 243 lb).[1]
