Indium acetate is an acetate of indium, with the chemical formula In(CH3COO)3. It is soluble in water, acetic acid and mineral acids.[1] It is the precursor of indium-containing compounds such as the solar cell materials CuInS2[2] and indium phosphide quantum dots.[3]
Preparation
Indium acetate can be prepared by reacting indium[4] or triethylindium[5] with frozen acetic acid.
Chemical properties
Indium acetate can react with propionic acid:[4]
- In(CH3COO)3 + CH3CH2COOH → In(CH3COO)2(CH3CH2COO) + CH3COOH
