In Greek mythology, Ismene (/ɪsˈmn/; Ancient Greek: Ἰσμήνη, Ismēnē) was the naiad daughter of the river-god Asopus by the nymph Metope, daughter of the river Ladon.[1] She was the sister of Aegina,[2] Salamis,[3] Pelagon (Pelasgus[4]) and Ismenus.[5] Ismene was the wife of Argus, eponymous king of Argos and thus, mother of Argus Panoptes and Iasus.[1]
