Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen (Arabic/Urdu: جماعة المسلمين), literally translated as "Group or party of Muslims", is a Pakistani religious organization. Based in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, it was founded by Masood Ahmad in January 1962. The present leader of the organization is Muhammad Ishtiaq who became the ameer after the death of Masood Ahmed in 1997.[1][2][3]
Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen closely resembles the Ahl-i Hadith sect in their insistence upon the primary sources of an original monotheistic Islam and a total rejection of fiqh.[1][4]
The jamaat introduce itself and says that as
For every person who believes in Allah and His apostle Muhammad (SallAllah-u-Alaihi-wa-Sallam) the present existence of sects and factions in Islam is a huge hurdle in the acceptance and propagation of true and unadulterated Islam.
The Islam that was present at the time of Allah’s prophet (SallAllah-u-Alaihi-wa-Sallam) was one and there were no factions, schisms, sects and firqa’s as there are today. Moreover, the following words of the prophet (SallAllah-u-Alaihi-wa-Sallam) are an eye opener for all believers and seekers of truth:
The people of the book (Jews and Christians) divided into 72 sects and this Ummah will divide into 73 sects. Out of these 72 will go to hell and only one will go the paradise and that is Al-jamaat. [Abu-Dawood, Sanad: Sahih]
Thus it is the duty of every believer to seek this Al-jamaat and save himself from Allah’s torment and pave the way towards paradise.
Now, let us analyze what this Al-jamaat is in the light of the Quran and Sunnah.
Allah, the Almighty says:
He named you Muslimeen before this (Quran) and also in it. [Surah: Al-Hajj, Ayah 78]
Thus all believers should call themselves Muslimeen (singular form Muslim) only and should not employ any other sectarian differentiating names as are to be found today.
Al-jamaat means The Jamaat and it is upon us to search for the complete name of this jamaat. By the grace of Allah that too is present in the ahaadith of the Prophet (SallAllah-u-Alaihi-wa-Sallam):
The heart of a believer does not deceive in 3 things:
Performing good deeds for the sake of Allah. Obeying the Ameer. Adhering to Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen. [Mustadrak Hakim 87/1, Sanad: Sahih]
Stick to Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen and it’s Imam———-Stay away from all sects. [Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]
Whosoever opposes Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen, He removes the chain of Islam from His neck. [Mustadrak Hakim 117/1, Sanad: Sahih]
Thus it is clear that the name of Al-jamaat is Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen.
We, therefore invite all the followers of Islam to say no to all sects and embrace pure Islam which is being offered by Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen and which is only present in the Quran and Sunnah.
Criticism by Sunnis
Sunni scholars accuse Jamaat al-Muslimeen of misinterpreting certain Qur'anic texts and hadiths. They assert that the founder Masood Ahmad expressed his personal opinions, overlooking the works and understandings of other mainstream Muslim scholars. They also charge the Jamaat with takfir, i.e., considering all other Muslims, outside the organization, to be Kafirs or unbelievers.[5][6][7][8]
