John Elliot Sanford (November 22, 1830 – October 11, 1907) was a U.S. politician who served as the ninth Insurance Commissioner of Massachusetts from June 29, 1866, to November 1, 1869;[1] as Chairman of the Massachusetts Board of Railroad Commissioners;[2] and, from 1872 to 1875, as the Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.[2][3]
