Karin (Persian: كرين, also Romanized as Karīn; also known as Karan-e Bozorg)[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Palanga Rural District of Shahrud District, Khalkhal County, Ardabil province, Iran.[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 539 in 153 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 429 people in 128 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 268 people in 110 households.[2]
