Khawaja Habibullah Nowsheri (Hubbi) was a Sufi poet born in Mohalla Nowshehra, Srinagar in 962 AH/1555 AD in the reign of Ali Shah.
Biography
His father was Khwaja Shams-ud-din Ginai, a wealthy person. Hubbi was brought up in his ancestral home. Since in those days religious education was given special attention, however Hubbi had interest in routine education along with religious education. He memorized Quran. He showed great sharpness in other branches of knowledge and arts. He studied Fiqh, Hadith, knowledge of principles, Persian language and literature also and he began to be counted among the distinguished scholars of Kashmir. Khawaja Hubbi showed no interest in playing and spent whole of his youth in the circle of tasawuf. He breathed his last in 1027 AH/1617 AD and was laid to rest in Khawaja Habibullah Nowsheri Shrine.[1][2]
